Celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week at Pleasant View

Celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week

Our nurses are our real-life superheroes here at Pleasant View Communities. Their dedication to our community and our residents—especially over the past year—is remarkable.

This week, as we celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week (formerly National Nursing Home Week), we have a lot to be thankful for.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to show my appreciation to my nursing team all week long,” said Sophia Kilby, Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing at Pleasant View Communities. “Each day the staff will receive a treat along with an appreciation gift at the end of the week. The residences are even decorated with posters from local school students. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Especially after a long, tough year keeping our residents safe during a pandemic, they all deserve to be celebrated for their hard work.

“This year’s National Skilled Nursing Care Week is an important one for me,” Sophia said. “Our nurses came together to create a wonderful home for our residents and worked incredibly hard to get us through this pandemic. We wouldn’t be where we are without them. Each one deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated. This week I hope our staff feels appreciated and understands how important they are.”

A Special Thanks to Three Exceptional Members of the Skilled Nursing Care Team

“It’s hard to choose only three of our nursing staff to give a special thanks to this year,” Sophia said. “We have a great staff, and everyone has worked hard. But these three nurses stand out as leaders on each of our shifts. They’ve gone the extra mile caring for our residents over the past year.”

Gerry Shenberger – Certified Nursing Assistant, 41 Years of Service to Pleasant View

“Gerry is one of the longest-standing employees at Pleasant View Communities,” Sophia said. “She never calls off, works hard, and is always there when you need her. Our residents recognize her for her compassionate, individualized care. They all love her.”

“Fawn has a positive attitude and has become a great leader on second shift and as a whole,” Sophia said. “This past year, she took on a large workload and handled it well. She’s one of our most valued employees.”

“Tara has taken on many roles at Pleasant View,” Sophia said. “She started as a licensed practical nurse, then became a registered nurse, and then took over as the manager of our rehabilitation unit. Since the beginning of the pandemic, she’s jumped in all around the facility, taking double shifts to make sure the residents’ needs were met.”

Caring for the Residents at Pleasant View Takes the Dedication of an Entire Team

Our skilled care nurses are one important part of our entire team of dedicated service members across campus who care for our residents.

“Skilled care and personal care take more than our team of nurses,” Sophia said. “We have such an incredible team supporting us, and they are the reason our nursing facilities run smoothly. This week, we’re supporting each member of our staff who helps us deliver excellent care; our environmental services team, activities team, dietary team, therapy staff, and our administrative staff. We couldn’t provide the care our residents need without you.”

A Week of Celebrations All Across Campus
